Iran Slams Israeli Assault on Gaza Hospital
WANA (Apr 13) – Ismail Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, strongly condemned the Israeli regime’s renewed war crime in attacking Al-Ma’amadani Hospital in Gaza. He called for a serious response from relevant international bodies, including the United Nations, the World Health Organization, and the International Committee of the Red Cross, to this horrific crime.
The spokesperson pointed to the ongoing genocide by the Israeli regime in Gaza and the continued killing and torture of innocent Palestinians in the West Bank. He emphasized the direct responsibility of the regime’s financial and military supporters—especially the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany—in these crimes, and stressed the need to end the impunity of Israeli war criminals.
Baghaei stated that if the international community and competent institutions—particularly the UN Security Council, the WHO, and the ICRC—had taken effective action in response to the Zionist regime’s criminal attack on Al-Ma’amadani Hospital on October 17, 2023, such tragedies would not be recurring today.
Recalling the deliberate attacks by the Zionist regime on hospitals and medical facilities in Gaza, and the killing of hundreds of Palestinian doctors, nurses, and aid workers over the past 18 months, Baghaei stressed that these assaults on Palestine’s health infrastructure not only represent a blatant violation of the 1949 Geneva Conventions and international humanitarian law, but are part of a broader plan of genocide and eradication of Palestine. He asserted that all governments, especially Islamic ones, are obligated to take necessary measures to halt these crimes and ensure the prosecution and punishment of the Israeli regime’s criminal officials.
